Hot dang, do we have a show for you!  We sit down with Ron Hawkins, a Canadian Indie Rock Hall of Fame inductee.  While like the rest of us, he puts on his pants one leg at a time, but then chooses to make gold records.  He is a Canadian musician known for Lowest of the Low, Do Good Assassins.  He reflected on the impact of his album “Shakespeare, My Butt,” which remains a significant work for fans. Hawkins shared insights on balancing creativity with family life, the challenges of maintaining artistic integrity, and the evolving nature of music consumption. He also touched on the personal stories behind his songs, such as “Rosie and Gray” and “DFW,” and the importance of community in his music. Hawkins emphasized the value of staying true to oneself and the impact of his decisions on his career and fans. Ron discussed the enthusiasm of young fans at his shows, noting a generation of kids who are now old enough to attend his shows and love the music in the same way as young people did back in the 1990s. He reflected on the band’s authentic, and sometimes unpolished, performance style. The conversation highlighted Ron’s evolving guitar choices, from a Telecaster to a Rickenbacker. Ron shared insights about the band’s new album, “Over Years and Overnight,” which features three band-written songs, a first for the group and left us with a little sugar discussing his upcoming tour plans in 2025.  Let’s go!
